After saw cutting a certain amount of square inches in different types of material, any saw blade will wear out. This little trick will greatly extend the life of your saw blade after it is dull. If your saw blade is missing teeth, don't try this. Remove the blade from the saw and wipe it clean. With a magic marker, mark the back of the blade about every 10 - 18 inches. (be consistent) With a handheld disc sander, gently grind about a .010 - .015 sinusoidal dip on the back side of the blade (see drawing) then remove any burrs with a stone. This creates a new cutting action on the worn teeth that will help the blade penetrate the material. This takes a little bit of finesse but it will give you much longer blade life. Works on horizontal as well as vertical bandsaws.
